Trevor Selkirk

Peer Recovery Coach

My name is Trevor Selkirk, and I’ve been in active and sustained recovery since July 2nd, 2023. I grew up in the quiet, isolated town of Idaho Springs, Colorado, where there wasn’t much to do or many opportunities for connection. After high school, I moved to Denver and began living with older people who were heavily involved with alcohol and drugs. Within a few short years, I was drinking almost daily, then using ecstasy and cocaine, and eventually, I became addicted to crystal meth.

My addiction brought with it a great deal of trauma. I went through cycles of detox, jail, rehab, and recovery meetings like AA and NA. Despite many attempts, I continued to relapse and couldn’t seem to find the path to lasting sobriety.

Everything changed after my last time in jail. I made a firm decision to change my life—and this time, I committed fully. I dove into holistic healing, studying nutrition, fitness, herbal medicine, sound therapy, meditation, yoga, and most importantly, finding a supportive community that didn’t label me as diseased or powerless.

As I healed, I found a new purpose: to help others find their own way out. I became a peer recovery coach to share the tools and knowledge I’ve gained with anyone struggling. I approach this work with nothing but empathy, love, and an open heart.

In my personal life, I’m passionate about lifting weights, running, yoga, kickboxing, archery, and exploring spirituality and natural medicine. I also find meaning in volunteering at homeless shelters and staying connected to the community through service.
